Governor Konga visits Morobo, Yei, calls for federalism

The Governor of Central Equatoria has returned to the state capital Juba after visiting Morobo and Yei, where he called for a federal system of governance in the country and declared that no one tribe can rule South Sudan.

Konga opened hospital facilities in Morobo and Yei whilst President Salva Kiir was opening a hospital in Rumbek.

The governor speaking to a congregation at Christ the King Cathedral in Yei said that some tribes are giving allegiance to their leaders rather than to their country. He said that if South Sudanese are to build a strong nation, they must be united and be free to express their opinions, Easter Radio reported.

“Central Equatoria Governor said the allegiance South Sudanese gave to their tribal leaders was because of wrong beginning which must be corrected as no country is ruled by a region or a tribe,” reported the radio station.

“Governor Wani Konga said there is no tribe that can rule or claim a country, saying the army should resolve its problems amicably, but not to kill civilians.”

He also called for federal system of governance in the country. The governor on the previous day in Yei opened an operation theatre at Yei Civil Hospital.

The Central Equatoria governor was in Morobo on Friday, where he gave a speech while launching the county hospital and radio station.

Catholic Radio Network reports that the “stressed the need to change national leadership democratically in an organized manner.”
