Authorities in the capital of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have accused gang members of killing one person whose body was found by a police patrol recently.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the Acting Mayor of Aweil Simon Tong Deng confirmed the killing saying that the victim was stabbed with knives, pangas and other sharp objects.

The body was found in a gang-controlled area of Makuach Awit.

Mayor Simon Tong Deng blamed one of the so-called “Niggers” group for killing him, saying “they are the people who commit crimes like this.” He said investigation was ongoing.

In related news, two SPLA soldiers were arrested for alleged involvement in robberies in Maper Akot in Aweil Town and have been transferred to military detention cells awaiting trial at SPLA Division 3 headquarters at Wunyiik .
