Fuel shortage hits Rumbek town

Rumbek town in Lakes State is suffering a fuel shortage with eight petrol stations shut down and hundreds of vehicles off the roads.

Good News Radio in Rumbek reported that the cost of a motorcycle ride has risen from seven South Sudanese Pounds to 35 pounds, according to a motorcycle rider.

The rider Samuel Mabor Makoi lamented that the fuel shortage is hindering private and public activities in the state.

He expressed fears that fuel shortage might cause price hikes in market if the situation continues for another week.

Akuac area resident Juma Til Deng attributed the fuel crisis to poor infrastructure development, saying the government should fix impassable roads to allow goods to flow to Rumbek.
