Babanusa town in the oil producing state of Sudan’s West Kordofan is experiencing an acute sky-rocketing of fuel prices.

Shop owners told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the expenses on petrol and diesel have risen dramatically, due to uncontrollable price increases at the market.

Residents of Babanusa expressed their dissatisfaction about the soaring prices of fuel as well as the harsh economic situation they are enduring.

A gallon of diesel now fluctuates between SDG60 ($10.50) and SDG70 ($12.20). A gallon of petrol reached SDG27 ($4.70) whereas refilling a cylinder of cooking gas costs SDG70, if found, a resident explained.

Salah Mohamed Adam, a trader at the Babanusa market attributed the problem to the instable fuel flow at the petrol stations.
