The price of diesel has fallen 30 per cent at markets in Abyei. A jerrycan now costs 175 SSP, down from 250 SSP.

Shortage of fuel had caused the MTN phone network to go off-air owing to lack of fuel for the generator by the MTN phone mast, according to Abyei Today newsletter.

This cut off telephone communications in Abyei. But the fuel has now been replaced and the network is back up.

Akoi Acheinbaai, a fuel seller, attributed the fall of fuel prices to change in the price at Majoknyeinthiou market in Northern Bhar el Ghazal, where traders from Abyei have been fetching fuel.
