Food distribution interrupted by gunshots in Yida

Heavy shooting by unknown people interrupted food distribution for refugees at Yida refugee camp on 21 September.

A source told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that authorities at the camp were distributing food rations, but the process was abruptly stopped following shooting by unidentified gunmen.

Separately, several refugees at the camp complained about rising prices of essential commodities at the market.

The refugees attributed the problem to impassable roads connecting the camp with Bentiu and Juba.

“The trucks get stuck and stopped totally due to poor roads,” one refugee said.
