Fire guts University of Bahr el Ghazal dormitory

A fire burned student dormitories at the University of Bahr el Ghazal on Monday.

An eyewitness told Radio Tamazuj that the fire consumed about 1400 mattresses and 100 beds, while blaming lack of fire extinguishers for the losses. No casualties were reported, according to a source.

Vice chancellor of Bahr El Ghazal University Samson Wasara attributed the fire, which began in a store room, to electrical faults.

He said there will be a meeting to assess the damage. Wasara said that the incident will not affect the resumption of classes in mid-September.
