At least two herders from the Fallata nomadic tribe were killed and about 7,000 head of sheep robbed during a livestock raid on Thursday at Agedi and Jigo areas in Sudan’s Blue Nile state, according to a traditional leader.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Sunday, the Fallata tribal leader El Sheikh Issa Ahmed Yagoub claimed that about 21 SPLA-N soldiers carried out the attacked on their cattle camp at 8:00 p.m.

“The incident resulted in the killing of two herders and about 7,000 head of sheep were taken,” he said.

The traditional leader accused the Sudan people’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) of carrying out the attack on the cattle camp.

“SPLA-N has been systematically targeting the Fallata tribesmen by instigating hostilities between the Ingessana and Fallata tribes in the area,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, SPLA-N deputy of humanitarian affair to Blue Nile Hashim Orta El Dou denied the claims, suggesting the leader’s message was merely propaganda intended to stir up ‘seditions’.
