Dinka Ngok official reports cattle raid in eastern Abyei

An official belonging to the Dinka Ngok tribe has reported the theft of 185 cattle in Tajalei in the east of the disputed Abyei territory between Sudan and South Sudan.

Commissioner Chol Madhool Majak told Radio Tamazuj a group of suspected nomads raided the cattle at Lou Boma of Majak County in Abyei on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

He said local youths spotted the raiders in the territory’s Majak County, alleging that they were seen wearing a mix of uniforms from Sudan.

Chol said the local authorities will meet with the UN Interim Security Force in Abyei (UNISFA) to try to find a peaceful solution to the issue.
