Dilling teachers decry low pay by education ministry

Teachers in Dilling Locality of Sudan’s South Kordofan are complaining about low wages paid to them by the local authorities in the area.

Several teachers told Radio Tamazuj that they have gone without allowances for a long period of time. They said that a grade seven teacher gets 1000 Sudanese pounds only including all the allowances.

The complaining teachers also accused the education ministry of practicing nepotism with regards to the transfer of teachers.

A teacher said the ministry has totally failed to fulfill its promises to cover transport costs, which prompted the teachers to use their pocket money for transport expenses.

He further said that some schools on the outskirts of the Dilling town are lacking teachers, while other schools within Dilling town don’t have any problem of teachers.

The low payment for teachers has also affected the performance of students, according the educator.
