Deputy Governor in Wau warns against ties to SPLM-IO

The Deputy Governor of Western Bahr El Ghazal State has warned state intellectuals and politicians against having links to SPLM-in-Opposition.

Zachariah Joseph Garang, a loyalist of the SPLM-Juba faction, told the SPLM caucus and MPs on Wednesday that political and security issues are currently interrelated, adding that the government formed a committee to enlighten citizens about the current situation.

Voice of Hope reported that Garang explained the committee would organize public rallies to sensitize citizens on dangers of associating with rebellion, warning against illegal recruitment of youth.

He claimed that the government had found out that the opposition recruited youths in Wau and Jur River Counties with a few also in Raja County.

He cited also the arrest of six men last month for alleged communications with opposition forces through mobile phone calls and SMS messages.
