Civil society leaders in Yei have presented a petition to the municipal authorities, security organs and church leaders in the county after the killing of the former mayor in Juba.

Cecilia Oba and her office manager Emmanuel Lemi were found murdered at a construction site in the Jebel area, along Yei road on Sunday. 

Police Spokesperson Col. James Monday Enoka said four suspects have been arrested in Juba in connection with the killing.

Protesters in Yei said they want better security in the country, according to the secretary general from one of the organizations, Dara Felix.

He told Eye Radio in Juba that the demonstration was meant to “show to the leaders that the people… are tired of this continuous disappearance of our people.”

He called for the police to investigate crimes and protect the people.
