Disabled women from across South Sudan have gathered in Juba for a two-day forum to plan advocacy for equal rights and more representation.

Florence Nayiga, an MP representing persons with disabilities in the Ugandan Parliament, is one of the facilitators. She told the UN radio service today, “We need the political will, whereby the decisions are made, where our minister stands and says we are coming up with the budget, but where is that portion, the budget line for people with disabilities?”

“Help us, we need affirmative action [in order] to be lifted from where we are to come to this level so we can compete,” she said.
