China planning to send 700 peacekeepers to South Sudan in 2015

China will send 700 troops to South Sudan, the first time the country has contributed to a United Nations peacekeeping mission, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The outlet reports that the first troops are expected to deploy in early 2015 and will be equipped with drones, armored infantry carriers, anti-tank missiles and mortars. The remaining peacekeepers are scheduled to arrive in March.
