The SSDF Cobra Faction yesterday celebrated the appointment of their leader David Yau Yau as the chief administrator for Greater Pibor Area in Jonglei State.

The celebration gathered different communities of the Pibor area at the Cobra Faction headquarters known as Tenet located about 3 km away from Pibor town.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the Pibor Executive Director Terero Tanga said the celebration was attended by the community members of Greater Pibor including intellectuals, women, children, youth and the soldiers of the Cobra Faction.

He explained the celebration was in response to the decree made by the South Sudanese president forming the administration of the Greater Pibor Area, a new region that is partially autonomous from Jonglei State.

Asked the number of people at the celebration the official said, “Everybody, all the people went.”

“We hope after some time there should be delivery of services to the local communities across greater Pibor area by the government of the Republic of South Sudan and UN agencies,” Terero stated.
