Cattle still missing after raid in disputed Abyei Area

More than 160 cattle stolen during a raid on an Abyei village last weekend are still missing, according to the Abyei Today newsletter.

No deaths were reported in the incident, which was initially reported by Radio Tamazuj on Monday.

Dut Nyol Sharip, one of eight owners who had his cattle stolen, told Abyei Today his animals wandered across the Lou stream when they were taken. He called on the entire community to help protect the animals.

But some community members pushed back and said cattle owners need to employ enough people to protect their animals.

In an unrelated reported from the Abyei area, a woman and her three‐year‐old daughter are being treated in the MSF hospital in Agok after being shot last week in the Abiemnhom area of neighboring Unity state.

The woman said her husband had fired at them after drinking alcohol, and that her unborn child had not survived.
