The Central Equatoria state government held a conflict resolution workshop Wednesday, where better communication skills were touted as a means to settle disputes.

“We need to learn the language we should use when resolving conflict," said Central Equatoria deputy governor Manassas Lomole Waya. "We need to learn how effectively we should communicate with one another.”

Lomole said the training is important not only for people of Central Equatoria but for all of South Sudan to acquire better problem solving skills.

“We need the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable peace and peaceful resolution to conflicts," he said, noting that internal and intrnational border disputes are particularly in need of nonviolent resolution.

The training was organized by African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and was attended by various Central Equatoria state officials including ministers, mayors, advisors, and police commissioners.
