The newly appointed ministers of Boma state, one of South Sudan’s newly created states, are now stranded in Juba due to lack of funds to cater for their transport to Pibor, a local official said.

Boma’s Minister of Local Government, Simon Logocho Gain, told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that because of the financial challenge, the new cabinet appointed in Juba recently including the state governor could not travel by air to Pibor town.

He complained that they cannot go by road due to rampant insecurity along the Juba-Pibor road. The official urged the national government to cater for their transport by air to Pibor town.

Simon revealed that the office of the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai has promised to transport them to their duty station in Pibor. “If the government does not hire an airplane for us, we will not go because roads are not secure,” he said.

The governor of Boma State Ismail Konyi had appointed seven state ministers in Juba.
