Blue Nile political parties want security before reconstruction

Two political parties in Sudan’s Blue Nile State have requested the national government to restore security and stability in the state’s war-affected localities before initiating new development projects in the state.

This comes after the presidency recently set up a reconstruction committee to implement some development with the ostensible purpose of realizing economic stability in the state.

In a press statement, several political leaders from the Democratic Unionist Party in Blue Nile State and the Union of Funj North and South said the development should come only after security and stability is restored by the government.

Abdelbagi Arbab, a leader of the Funj party, said, “The local citizens need security and stability as a priority. We cannot talk of development when there is rampant insecurity in some localities.”
