The Governor of Sudan’s Blue Nile State, Hussein Yasin has issued a decision forming a committee to address the challenges facing the Arab nomadic tribes who have recently returned back to the state following the conflict in South Sudan.

The deputy governor was tasked to be the head of the committee while the Tadamoun Locality Commissioner was appointed as the committee rapporteur.

Representatives of the State Physical Infrastructure Ministry, Social Welfare, Damazin and Bau Localities, state police and commander of the fourth division of infantry forces as well as the head of pastoralists’ union are also named to the committee.

The decision directed the committee to survey a resettlement site for the pastoralists in Tadamoun Locality.

In related news, in neighbouring Sennar State a workshop on resettlement of the returned herders was concluded yesterday. The workshop recommended the allocation of land and setting up of a specialized services committee for the pastoralists.

For his part, the Governor of Sennar State Ahmed Abbas emphasized the importance of resettlement of pastoralists to enable the government to address the challenges they are facing as well as the provision of essential service and farmlands to them. 

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Council of States, Abdullah Al Tayib urged the participants to implement the recommendations in good faith so as to maintain the security and stability in the state.
