The Asubia Blue Nile State Folklore Band celebrated on Friday the last day of Christmas celebration in Juba amid a large presence of refugees from Blue Nile in South Sudan. 

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Hamad Al-Neel the group spokesperson appealed for the preservation of the folklore of the tribes of Blue Nile state in countries where Blue Nile residents have sought refuge. 

He expressed his intension to establish regular band concerts with the participation of refugees.

“The band intended to send peace message to Blue Nile refugees who are in refugee camp in South Sudan, Ethiopia and Sudan. We are hoping that this terrible situation will change so that we return to our homeland and live in unity and avoid tribalism and discrimination.”

“The only thing that unites us is through culture, social interaction and sport. My message to the generation is that you are half of the present and whole of the future.”

“We must sustain our culture as we almost losing our cultures. Our culture is our identity and history. Those cultures we inherent them from our ancestors. So once we lose them then you lose your identity so nothing will unite us again,” said Al-Neel.
