Unknown gunmen ambushed the commissioner of Akoka County on Tuesday while he was traveling along the Malakal-Akoka road, but he escaped unharmed.

A local source told Radio Tamazuj that Commissioner Daniel Yor was traveling to the state capital Malakal on the eve of Independence Day when his convoy came under fire.

No casualties were reported.
