The Agoro/Acholi community of Magwi says no resolutions were ratified at a recent dialogue forum held at Obama Village hotel in Ayii two weeks ago between the Acholi farming community and Dinka Bor pastoralists.

The two community's representatives two weeks ago attended a three-day dialogue forum organized by the South Sudan Peacebuilding Opportunity Fund (POF) to resolve tensions between the two communities.

Radio Tamazuj reported that the two communities agreed on justice mechanisms to enhance peaceful coexistence between them including placing penalties for cattle thieves and killers as well as penalties for cattle found grazing on farmed crops.

However, speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, a member of parliament in the national parliament and a member of the Agoro/Acholi community council of elders Otim David Okot said no resolutions have been ratified.

“We are yet to receive; Acholi and Agoro council of elders are yet to receive the full report but we have already received the team report that no resolutions have been signed for the coexistent between the farmers and cattle keepers,” he said.

He added, “There is no agreement but the meeting took place for dialogue but there is no resolution that has been reached that’s why there is no paper which has been ratified.”

The lawmaker further said that he was informed by the community chairman who was in the meeting that the meeting took place for the dialogue to resolve some issues like the destruction of farms and also stealing of the cattle but no conclusive resolution has been reached.

According to Okot, the Acholi council of elders and MPs from Magwi await a report from the representatives who attended the forum to engage in wider consultations.
