A total of 951 returnees 'stranded' in South Sudan's Renk county, Upper Nile, have arrived at the Juba port on Monday in good condition. They were received by UNHCR and Social Welfare Ministry officials, which also coordinated their ransportation.

Gabriel Deng, a returnee’s representative told Radio Tamazuj that the returnees, which also included women and children, left the Payuar camp early October and traveled to Juba by boat.

“We spent many days on the river boat when we were on our way to Juba, we are thankful because we have have arrive in good condition. As soon as we arrived in Juba Port we were taken to Jebel camps,” Deng said.

Renk county still accommodates thousands of South Sudanese returnees, stranded in the area since the independence of South Sudan in 2011.
