7 people killed in Kajo-Keji County

At least seven civilians were reportedly killed by unknown gunmen in Limi Boma of Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria State last week, an area official said.

Kajo-Keji County commissioner Kenyi Eresto told Radio Tamazuj that the suspects and the motive behind the killing of the seven people on Thursday evening are yet to be established.

He said the deceased included five residents of Kajo-Keji and two other Ugandan women believed to be from Moyo district.

The deceased were identified as Dexson from Litebe Boma, Kiera from Gari boma, Tombek, Kario Agnes Ugandan, Alice another Ugandan, and Charles Longa from Limi Boma in Kajo-Keji County.

Commissioner Eresto Kenyi said security authorities in the area have launched investigations into the matter.

“The security apparatus managed to find out the seven people killed in Limi Boma around Sokari and these people were killed on Thursday (March 18, 2021) and our security apparatus is still finding out who killed these people,” he said.

Eresto said apart from this incident, the security situation in the area remains normal.

For his part, Modo David Moyo District Resident Commissioner said last week that he was not informed of such an incident but he promised to investigate the matter.

Last week, Authorities in Kajo-Keji County, Moyo, and Yumbe districts agreed to conduct joint security patrols and information sharing to improve security along its common border corridors.
