Police in Awerial County of Lakes State said at least 7 people were killed, one wounded and an unknown number of cattle raided by armed Mundri youth from the Aliap community of Awerial County of Lakes State.

John Bol Tier, the chief inspector of Awerial police, told Radio Tamazuj that the attack carried out by Mundri youth against Aliap community in Tindilo took place in the early hours of Thursday morning in Tindilo area of Terekeka County.

“The Mundari youth attacked the cattle camp of the Aliap in Tindilo and killed 7 people and took all the cows in the cattle camp. There were many cows because it was a whole cattle camp. The raided cattle have not yet been counted,” Bol said.

“They attacked very early and took the cattle camp people by surprise. There was no one killed from the raiding party. No dead body was found,” Bol added.

Asked what the police were doing to mitigate and prevent cattle rustling, Bol said the incident happened in a Mundari area and that Tindilo was under the police jurisdiction of Terekeka. 

Bol Tier said there is no one killed from among the Mundari attackers in the Tindilo cattle camp raid. "There is no one found killed among the attackers. The people who have been killed are 7, and one wounded and they are all from the Aliap community," said Bol Tier.

Isaac Adam, the executive director of Mundri West said the security situation in his area was fine and that he has not heard of the rustling incident.
