Three people were killed and one child injured by unknown gunmen in Nzara County of Western Equatoria State in the wee hours of Monday morning, officials have said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the state information minister William Adriano said the father of the town mayor John Singara was killed in the attack. 

“It happened on 26th September 2021 at 2:AM. Unknown gunmen attacked the house and killed the father of the mayor including one woman who is the wife of the former commissioner of Sakure in the former defunct state and one child and also wounded one person instantly,” Adriano said. This is very shocking news in this month where the father of John Singara was killed in the attack." 

The minister mentioned that the state security organs are investigating the incident. 

“The security organs are still monitoring the situation closely and once the investigation is done, then we are going to release the final report on who is responsible for the attack,” he added.

Adriano pointed out that the region had been peaceful in recent months with few criminal reports.
