Authorities in Waat Count of Bieh State say livestock are dying without veterinary medicines and vaccines.

 Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Waat County Commissioner Isaac Pur Ruot said cattle have been dying from unknown diseases "every day" in the area since September.

 “In Wunbil area, 740 cows died. 760 cows and 600 goats died in Boduot area, and in Rim area, 4,000 cows and 12 goats died. In Weideng area, we lost 3,000 cows and 900 goats, while in Dingnyalla area, we lost 800 cows and 1,000 goats,” he explained.

 The local official expressed discontent about poor veterinary care due to shortage of medicines including vaccines.

 He said, “No diagnosis has been carried out because there are no veterinarians, but the signs include diarrhea, nasal and mouth discharges.”

 Pur called on the Ministry of Animal Resources and health organizations to provide them with veterinary medicines so that the cattle are vaccinated.

 Meanwhile, Peter Thou Kong, the state agriculture minister confirmed that huge animal die-offs are happening in Waat County.

 He said that heavy floods in the state might make cattle susceptible to infections.

 The complaining official called upon aid organizations to provide them with medicines and vaccines “Every day at least 10 cows die in Waat and the surrounding villages, so we are appealing for help,” he said.
