Unity State authorities apprehend 40 cattle raiders

The SPLA 4th Division in Unity State yesterday announced apprehending 40 militia who previously had stolen more than 300 head of cattle from Twic County of Warrap state in the month of February, in a raid that left 42 citizens from the area dead or injured, according to a state official.

Akot Lual Akot, the Gogrial East County Commissioner, confirmed to Radio Tamazuj that, authorities of the SPLA 4th Division in Unity state have handed over yesterday approximately 56 cattle out the total 300 that were stolen from Twic County at the hands of militias in late February.

He added that the perpetrators have killed 30 and injured 12 civilians before raiding the cattle. “The Unity state authorities have only rescued 56 head of cattle and handed them over to us,” he revealed.

He further acknowledged that authorities in Unity state told them that they arrested 40 perpetrators and urged the authorities on their side to bring them to trial.
