The bodies of two men were found floating on floodwaters in Twic East County of Jonglei State on Monday, local officials said.

"On October 25, two dead bodies were found floating on floodwaters in the Apetapou area on the eastern outskirts of Panyagoor town," Twic East County executive director, Deng Gak Atem, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday.

He added, "So, I formed a committee comprising of policemen and doctors who found out that the two men did not just drown but they were killed by bullets." 

Gak said a committee comprising policemen and doctors formed to investigate the issue concluded that the two men were shot and killed before they were drowned. 

He said no one had been arrested but investigations have been launched.

For his part, Dr. Chol leek, the county health director said “According to medical reports, those people were killed by gunshots.” 

The police were not available for comment.
