Youth in South Sudan’s Torit state have translated the revitalized peace agreement into pictures and cartoons to ensure it is easily understood by local communities.

Speaking at a youth forum held Monday, the executive director of South Sudan Youth Initiative for Change (SSYIC), Thomas Lodovico urged South Sudanese leaders to fully implement the peace accord.

“We are sending this message to our leaders. We are seen outside the country not as people, but animals. This time, we are regretting why we have gone to the bush. Please listen to the cries of young people,” said Lodovico.

“Implement this peace [agreement] fully in letter and spirit”, he added.

He urged leaders to embark on unity and development.

Hassan Gama Juma, an artist, said he wants to use talent to change the community.

“Actually art is not my profession, but it’s a talent given to me to use it in a correct way to give positive effect on the community,” he said.

The South Sudanese artist called for calm among citizens.

The youth, in addition to the artistic translation of the peace agreement, also acted peace dramas and sang peace songs.

In September last year, the South Sudanese arch-foes signed a revitalized peace accord, aimed at ending the devastating civil war.
