Tonj governor reshuffles government, appoints opposition official

The governor of Tonj state, Akech Tong Aleu, issued decrees on Sunday appointing a new state advisor, a new female minister and county commissioners for new counties in the state.

Governor Tong appointed Luka Lual Madhang , a member of the SPLM-IO faction allied to Taban Deng Gai as the new state advisor for girl child education and environment, bringing the number of opposition officials in the state government to two.

Tong also appointed Mrs. Abak Yel Madot as minister for the newly established ministry of rural development.

In another decree, governor Tong appointed Geng Mayen Deng as commissioner of Awul County,  Marial Kuot Mangok as commissioner of Palal County, Marko Madok Madhieu  as commissioner of  Ngapagok county, and Lino Mayen Guet as commissioner of old  Warrap County.

Thiet County commissioner John Akot Chuol was relieved and reappointed county commissioner of Jak, while Mrs. Asunta Adhieu Adiu appointed as the new Thiet County commissioner.

Another decree relieved Joseph Madut Deng as commissioner of Kiirik County and replaced him with Angelo Atem Deng. Ananatak County commissioner Chol Mabior Dil has been sacked, leaving his seat vacant.

Governor Akech also named former commissioner of Tonj North County, Hon. Daniel Diu Ayii, as replacement for Andrea Aguer Ariik who was dismissed from the State Legislative Assembly early this year.
