Tambura authorities resume processing ID cards, passports

The processing of nationality cards and passports resumed on Monday in Tambura State after a technical problem that halted the process for four months had been resolved, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, the director for nationality and passports in the state, Capt. Julius Benjamin said they have received three machines to resume their work in the state.

He further said they have also been trained on how to use the machines. Benjamin urged citizens to go and process nationality cards and passports, which he said are essential for all South Sudanese nationals.

He, however, said the conditions of machines supplied to them from the capital, Juba has proved a major challenge to their operation.

Meanwhile several local residents have complained about slow processes in the issuing of the nationality cards and passports in the state.

Michael Lukutata, a resident of Tambura town, said it is now two years since he applied for a passport, but he is yet to receive it. He said officials involved have failed to provide good information.

Zeferino Zangabai, another resident of Tambura, said complete equipment should be provided for easy operation in the state.

Tambura State started issuing nationality cards and passports last year.
