Swedish organisation denies accusations of child abduction in South Kordofan

A Swedish children’s organisation has strongly denied it has information relating to a case of children abducted from South Kordofan and taken to South Sudan.

The organisation's country director called on official bodies to verify all information that refers to work of the organisation before releasing it to the public domain, to prevent harming the organisation and its employees.

The Sudanese state news agency SUNA quoted an official source at Sudan's Ministry of Justice stating that the Advisory Council for Human Rights adopted this issue to protect children from violations.

The Sudanese official said the Swedish children’s organisation was leading an advocacy campaign with other civil society organisations as 1000 children were abducted and deported to South Sudan for recruitment into the ranks of the South Sudanese army.
