Sudan’s foreign minister consults Kiir on pending issues

Sudan’s foreign minister al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed on Friday evening met with South Sudan President Salva Kiir in Juba to discuss the key pending issues on power sharing.

The Sudanese official was accompanied by Director General of Uganda’s External Security, Joseph Ocwet.

The meeting was also attended by government chief negotiator Nhial Deng Nhial, cabinet minister Martin Elia Lomuro, and minister in the office of the president Mayiik Ayii Deng.

The Sudanese mediation team today launched "shuttle diplomacy" in an attempt to narrow the gaps between South Sudan’s warring parties.

South Sudan peace negotiators in Khartoum faced tough bargaining over power sharing, as regional leaders seek to end the ongoing conflict in Africa’s youngest nation.
