Sudan and South Sudan clash near border

South Sudan has accused Sudan of bombing the border areas near the oil rich Heglig in South Kordofan.

Sudan also accused South Sudan of backing rebels in an attack near the strategic town of Talodi but Juba denied this.

On Saturday South Sudan army spokesman Philip Aguer said the Sudanese army bombed its positions along the border.

Peace negotiations began this weekend in Addis Ababa but diplomats are skeptical of a breakthrough following president Bashir’s cancellation of the summit meeting with president Kiir in Juba.
