SPLM-N claims control of village near Talodi

The Sudan People's Liberation Movement north said it destroyed an army base in Muflua, seven km north of Talodi in South Kordofan.

They claim to be moving towards the strategic town of Talodi, but the Sudanese army denies this.

Sources said seven civilians were killed in Muflua caught up in the fighting between the army and the SPLM-N.

They also said citizens have fled the area where there continues to be loud gunshots and strikes.

Sudanese army spokesman Al Sawarmi Khaled Saad told Reuters 'battles are ongoing until now. Rebels failed to reach their goals, and there are losses on both sides.'

SPLM-North spokesman Arnu Lodi told the news agency the rebels had destroyed two garrisons close to Talodi on Thursday to cut off supply lines to the town.
