South Sudan confirms 7 more COVID-19 cases

South Sudan has recorded seven positive coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total tally of confirmed cases to 2,113.

All the new cases are males.

In a statement seen by Radio Tamazuj, the Ministry of Health said the new confirmed cases were from 105 samples tested, bringing total samples tested in the country to 11,582.

The ministry said the cumulative number of recoveries in the country now stands at 1,054, while the number of fatalities remains at 40.

It added that a total of 430 contacts that were being traced have been reached and that a total of 4,434 contacts have so far completed their mandatory 14-day follow-up.

The ministry urged the public to follow government guidelines to curb the spread of the disease.

South Sudan has seen a rapid increase in the number of positive cases since the outbreak was first reported in the country in April.
