Members of the newly-formed National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC) will conduct their first meeting in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum from 14 to 15 October.

On 25 September, President Salva Kiir appointed 10 members to the National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC), a body tasked with the oversight and implementation of the activities of the pre-transitional period.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) special envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais, said in a statement to SSBC on Sunday that the appointed members of the committee had been accepted.

He further said the committee will hold its first meeting to agree on procedures and work-related activities. “I am glad to announce that we have a common understanding that the first meeting should take place in Khartoum,” Wais said.

For his part, head of the NPTC, Tut Gatluak confirmed that the first meeting will be held in Khartoum from 14 to 15 October.
