Peace conference between Warrap, Lakes States pastoralists

Cueibet County Commissioner Mayom Malek says that a peace and reconciliation conference between pastoralists from bordering counties of Warrap and Lakes State has concluded on Wednesday.

The commissioner told Radio Tamazuj that the conference brought together about 80 local youths from Cueibet and Rumbek North counties of Lakes State and pastoralists from Tonj South and Tonj East counties of Warrap State.

The county official noted the conference discussed the importance of peaceful coexistence and cooperation between the pastoralists of the two states. The meeting discussed how to benefit from pastures and water sources and stop cattle raiding in the two states, according to Malek.

He said the event was organized by the state government.
