Over 50 cattle recovered after raid in Pochalla: police

55 herds of cattle were recovered following a raid which took place in Pochalla County of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area last week, a police officer said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Saturday, the county’s police inspector, Amati Ochan said the incident occurred in Otallo village last Friday.

“Suspected criminals from the neighboring Murle community made away with over 55 cows, which were later recovered by our youth,” he said.

Ochan further pointed out that no one was hurt during the incident.

Murle community leaders could not immediately be reached for comment.

Communities of the greater Jonglei state have for long been wrangling leading to cattle raids and child abductions.

Livestock herding is the main source of income in many South Sudanese communities.
