At least one person was reported killed after another massive fire broke out at the main market inside the UN Protection of Civilians’ site (PoC) on Thursday.

Yohanis Gatnyang, who heads a peace committee inside the PoC, told Radio Tamazuj today that one person identified as Tap Bilieu, 33, died after the fire broke out at the main market yesterday around 8 pm.

He pointed out that several people were wounded but their number has not yet been confirmed. He pointed out that the fire consumed hundreds of shops at Block 5 of Sector 3.

The camp official said nobody was arrested for involvement in the incident.

On Tuesday, an extensive fire engulfed the main market inside the UN Protection of Civilian Site in Bentiu and destroyed several shops with property of unknown value.
