New Lainya commissioner says peace process will be his priority

The newly appointed commissioner of Lainya County in Yei River State said the peace process will be the first priority of his new administration.

Lainya County Commissioner Stephen Digol Steward told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that his government will work for peace and service delivery in the county.

“The first thing I promise to do in Lainya County is to implement peace and stabilize security because without these two things we cannot do anything and I promise to work together with my people in the area so that we can deliver services to the people,” he said.

For her part, the Minister of Local Government in Yei River State, Huda Michael Laila urged the new commissioner to ensure that civilians are protected.

She appealed to the new commissioner to work for restoration of peace.

“Comrade Commissioner Lainya is very rich. You have come at the right time and my advice to you is that please work with your people. A successful leader is a person who works according to the will of the people,” she said.
