New displacement after clashes in eastern Nuba

The population of Al Moreib in South Kordofan has fled the area after clashes and aerial bombardment. Radio Tamazuj has independently confirmed the abandonment of the town after it was first reported by a rebel spokesman yesterday.

Fresh fighting between the SPLA-North and the Sudan Armed Forces and its militias broke out in Rashad Locality three days ago forcing thousands to flee.

“Since about three days ago all of the people fled from Al Moreib, from the entire city they fled, and they went to the areas Mabsoot, Habail, and Hajeir,” one of the displaced citizens told Radio Tamazuj.

A number of displaced people from Al Moreib told Radio Tamazuj that they are living in open areas under terrible humanitarian conditions since fleeing from Al Moreib three days ago. They said that the Sudan Air Force had launched heavy air attacks on Al Moreib and Bant villages.

They are now without shelters amid continuous heavy rains and they lack food. The displaced people made it clear that they had left behind all their belongings.
