Misseriya, Dinka and Rizeigat meet to solve land sharing

Misseriya, Rizeigat and Dinka Malwal tribe leaders met in Aweil, South Sudan, to go over recommendations on land sharing and peaceful coexistence for nomads and settlers, agreed at a conference in February.

The point of the meeting is to put into practice the solutions agreed on between the three groups so they can avoid frictions between the border tribes, said Dinka chief Luka Luwal.

The Misseriya are a Sudanese nomadic tribe that annually migrate south as their cattle search for water and grazing areas.

This is the first year following the secession of South Sudan that they will be officially crossing into South Sudan where the Dinka Malwal are settled.

The groups are adamant to resolve land sharing so they can peacefully live side by side as they have done historically.
