Police in Wau town of Western Bahr el Ghazal State have arrested a man suspected to have killed a woman in the Jebel Khair neighborhood last week.

Major General Samuel Ajuong, the police commissioner of Wau, told reporters that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday and is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.

He said the woman was killed in an attacked by unknown gunmen.

The senior officer thanked the local residents for cooperating with the police in efforts aimed at apprehending the suspected killer.

He urged citizens to report all criminal activities to the police.
