Great Jungle FC defeated Maikiir FC 1-0 in the opening of the under 23 Uror County tournament played under the theme “Peace and Unity” at Kakuma 3 new area field in Kakuma refugee camp on Tuesday.

Maikiir FC appeared to be the better team in the opening stages of the match, which started at 5:20 pm, hitting the post before the interval.

In the second half, however, both teams were in possession of the ball before Great Jungle FC broke the stalemate in the 60th minute.

The result puts Great Jungle FC top of Group A with three points. The group has Maikiir, Winners, Nyanthoach and Red Sea football clubs.

Established in 1991, Kenya’s Kakuma refugee camp, is home to approximately 165,000 refugees and asylum seekers of more than 18 different nationalities.

The camp accommodates thousands of South Sudanese refugees.
