Jonglei labor ministry screens out ghost workers

The minister of labor in South Sudan’s Jonglei State has promised to remove all ghost workers in all government institutions in the on-going screening.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Simon Thon said his ministry is committed to fight corruption through a screening exercise that will end on April 24.

Thon said the screening will create employment for thousands of unemployed youth as well offer promotion opportunities for employees.

“In this screening we want to remove all ghost names in the state. This will create opportunities for new recruitment and promotion of those who served in one position for more than 10 years. Apart from the 200 on the pension list, we will also know those who reached the retirement age through the screening,” he said.

Minister Thon has urged state government officials and Jonglei citizens to support the fight against corruption in the state by cooperating throughout the exercise.
