Imatong State authorities arrest criminal gang

Government authorities in Imatong State of South Sudan say they have arrested a criminal gang that has been terrorizing the people of Nimule.

Imatong State governor, Tobilio Alberio Oromo told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the state police have arrested five suspects including a woman who belong to a gang of criminals led by someone identified only as Taban.

Alberio said one of the suspects in custody confessed that they killed the paramount chief of Anjara at the beginning of the month.

Governor Alberio noted that the gang has been actively conducting criminal activities   including raping a pregnant woman in Nimule last month.

He disclosed that some of those arrested are government soldiers.
