Flood damages farms in south White Nile

Three villages and agricultural schemes in southern White Nile were flooded by a seasonal river. Al Rawat, Al Dagaja, and Abu Dharis villages and the Um Agarib agriculture project suffered damage due to flooding by the Khor Abu Habel.

The flood was blamed on heavy rains scattered across North Kordofan where the river originates.

One source said that in Al Rawat alone more than 450 homes were damaged along with agriculture projects north of Al Megenis. He said also that the flood has damaged the road between Kosti city and Megenis, a flashpoint border area with South Sudan.

Citizens have been living in the open and without humanitarian assistance to shelter them or provide first aid.
